Diy: Jean shorts
Earlier this week, I decided to take a trip to Goodwill (I wanted to pop tags, and brought app. $20). I was looking for a lamp for my vanity, but also decided to take a looksy on the racks and came across a pair of Gap jeans in my size! They were in awesome condition but were way too short on me..which is a little loco, because I'm short to begin with! I wanted to transform them into something wearable and honestly couldn't pass up a $2 pair of jeans!
So I came up with a tutorial on how to transform a pair of Jeans into a cute pair of cut-offs! Here it is...
1. Supplies needed:
A pair of Jeans
A ruler
Steel Wool
Scissors
Chalk
2. Measure where you want the length to be and mark with chalk.
3. Take the ruler and use it as a guide to trace the line of chalk across the jeans.
4. Cut along the line.
5. Fold the jeans over to make sure both sides are symmetrical.
6. Use the first side as a guide for the second.
7. Now its time to distress! Take the steel wool and rub along the edges to fray the fabric. Do this along seams to give a more "lived in" look.
8. Take the scissors and cut the seam along the pockets and drag them back and forth to create more fraying. Be creative!
9. Enjoy!
I threw them in the dryer before I wore them to fray them just a bit more, every time you wash them the better they will look. So excited to wear these babies all summer!

Fish Bone
Sometimes all it takes to make an outfit memorable is a couple of interesting pieces. I bought this fish bone necklace at an antique mall a couple months ago and I just had to have it. It's one of those oddly timeless type pieces that can bring a unique touch to any outfit.
I wanted my hair up this day, so I created a "3 crown braid" and side swept my bangs to add to the vintagey vibe. It's a super easy updo that any one can do and I'm thinking about creating a tutorial on it soon!

Warmth
I left Florida thinking I was going to be so excited about the cold, but 4 months in..I'm ready to get out! It's March tomorrow and that means spring, so sunshine and warmth hurry up! Don't get me wrong, I've loved the change of seasons and the pretty snow, but this Florida girl is running out of warm clothes.

Coat Rack Makeover
We have been looking for an antique coatrack for a loooong time, and finally last weekend we found one! It wasn't the prettiest one in the the bunch, but I knew with a little bit of paint I could make it our own.
It didn't need too much sanding because it was actually in pretty good shape, so I used a liquid sander called 'Klean Strip' that stripped the top layer in minutes! I will definitely be using this product on simple diy projects in the future.
I used one of the paint samples I had left over from our fireplace makeover and just used a big paint brush along with an angled one to fill in small crevices and hard to reach spots.
And VIOLA, no more messy couches with coats all over them!

Distant Thunder
This past weekend our fireplace got a makeover. We were debating on the color for quite some time, but finally decided to pick a shade that played off of our chevron rug.

I love how it added a modern edge to the room!

Oh, what a beautiful day.
I don't have a good excuse about not updating in 6 months, it's just pure laziness. I will promise to get back on track!
Today I got to try out a new Bumble and Bumble product at the salon, and let me tell you.. I AM OBSESSED. It is a thickening mousse and defining cream and it will give you all that va va voom you've been missing from all those inconsistent volumizing products. My model was so much fun, and she kept me laughing the entire time! The only negative thing is that it isn't available until February, but trust me, you need this in your life! (you and your hair will thank me)
Hope tomorrow is as beautiful as today. We are going to the home and garden show, and I'm hoping to get some DIY and decorating inspiration!

Also, Matt and I went to a couple antique shops searching for a vanity and a coat rack..no luck, but it was still a good time.
